15 people have lost their lives in a fatal accident that occurred on the Omen bridge along ijebu-ode/Ibadan highway, Oru-Ijebu, Ogun state this morning (Tuesday morning).
Spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who made this known to Newsworldprime said 38 others were injured in the fatal accident, while 12 others were unhurt.
Akinbiyi said the accident was a lone one involving a Mistsubishi Canter, marked XE-331-MKA with 65 occupants.
The Spokesman said the accident was caused by “overspeeding and wrongful overtaken before the bridge by the driver of the vehicle”, which led into the vehicle eventually falling into a ditch.
He added that the presumed dead bodies were recovered from the ditch, where the vehicle crashed and later to Sabo following the request of the Hausa community, while the injured victims have been taken to the General Hospital in ijebu-ode.
