N.C.E graduate arrested for armed robbery in ogun


A National College of Education (N.C.E) graduate, Afolayin Sunday has been arrested for armed robbery in Ogun State.

24-year-old Sunday was arrested by men of the State Police command in ijoko area of Ota, in the State for the alleged armed robbery.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi who made this known, said the suspect, a Mathematics/Computer Science graduate of Adeniran Ogunsanya college of education Ijanikin Lagos was arrested after he allegedly successfully robbed one Adesina Omolola, a POS attendant in Ijoko.

Oyeyemi said according to the complainant, the suspect walked into the POS shop, pretended to be a customer who came to transact business, while having realized that the victim was the only person in the shop, he allegedly grabbed her on the neck and brought out a UTC knife with which he forced the victim to submission.

The suspect thereafter ransacked the drawer in the shop and allegedly ran away with the sum of N42000 available at the time.

The Spokesman added that the victim after regaining her consciousness raised an alarm which alerted policemen on routine patrol from Agbado division.

Oyeyemi said the policemen then chased the suspect with the help of people around and got him apprehended.

He added that after his arrest, it was discovered that the suspect had earlier robbed one Abimbola Oyebolu, on the 17th of April 2019, as well as one Ibrahim Oluwadamilola on the 31st of May 2019.

The suspect was said to have inflicted various degrees of matchet injuries on the duo before forcefully dispossessing them of their phones and money.

Oyeyemi said recovered from the suspect were the sum of N42000 which he took from the shop and a UTC knife.

He added that the State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama has ordered the transfer of the suspect to special anti robbery squad (SARS) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
