Telecom Mast vandals who stole items worth N1.8m, in Police net

Three members of a syndicate who allegedly specialised in vandalising telecommunications companies mast in Ibafo area of Ogun state are now in Police net.

Spokesman of the State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects, Adeola Oyesanya, Bashiru Mohammed and Musa Mohammed were arrested on Saturday following a report by a security guard attached to an MTN mast in Papa Ibafo area that a group of thieves have invaded the site, vandalised and carted away 12 batteries valued at about 1.8 million naira.

Oyeyemi said following this report, the Divisional Police Officer in-charge of Ibafo Division, Abiodun Ayinde quickly mobilized his anti robbery men and moved to the scene.

He added that on sighting the policemen, the suspects abandoned their loot and escaped to the nearby bush.

Oyeyemi said the entire area was subsequently cordoned off by the policemen and the bush was properly combed as a result of which the first suspect Adeola Oyesanya was arrested.

He noted that his arrest  led to the arrest of the other two suspects who are allegedly the receivers of stolen goods.

The Spokesman said on interrogation, they all confessed to have committed the crime and that they have been on the business for quite some time.

Oyeyemi said, the state Police Commissioner, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the transfer of the suspects to state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
